Course Description

This program is designed to equip learners with the skills and knowledge required to work in the community and residential settings, providing personalised support to individuals who may need assistance due to age, disability or other reasons.
Upon completion of this qualification, you will be equipped to take on a range of roles, including Residential Support Worker, Aged Care Worker, Home Care Assistant and Personal Care Assistant.

Entry Requirements

There are no pre-entry study or qualification requirements, but to be eligible, you must:

  • an Australian citizen; or
  • a permanent visa holder or holder of visa subclass 309, 444, 449, 785, 786, 790, or 820; or
  • a dependent or spouse of the primary holder of a visa subclass 457 or 482**; or
  • a bridging visa holder who has made a valid application for a visa subclass 866; or
  • a bridging visa E holder (subclasses 050 and 051) who has made a valid application for a visa subclass 785 or 790.
  • Reside in Western Australia;
  • Possess suitable English language, literacy and numeracy skills (e.g. you will need to be able to read, understand and communicate care requirements on a care plan);
  • Have a current COVID-19 vaccination (unless exempt); and
  • Provide a copy of your passport or photo identification.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI). We recommend that you create your USI before you book your course.

Additionally, you need to attend and achieve a satisfactory result on the language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) test. The LLN test will be conducted either face to face in a hard copy or via eLearning: Moodle. The LLN test will determine whether the student needs additional support to achieve the following ACSF Levels-

Learning – Level 3,
Reading – Level 3,
Writing – Level 3,
Oral Communication – Level 3
Numeracy – Level 3

Prior to undertaking practical placement, you will be required to provide:

  • Current Police Clearance (no older than six months) or NDIS Worker Screening Check; and
  • A current flu vaccination (unless exempt).

You will have the skills to provide individualised care to those who require support due to ageing, disability, or some other reason. Our graduates find employment working in a range of residential and community settings via Auscare Staffing Solutions such as:

Course Overview

This course provides you with foundational skills and knowledge to work in the aged care Facility. You’ll learn to work with individuals to support their independence and wellbeing, in their homes or in community settings.
Through classroom learning, e-learning, and a practical work placement, you’ll learn to:

  • Provide individualised support, both physical and social
  • Maintain personal care and other activities
  • Recognise healthy body systems
  • Work with diverse people.

You will also learn valuable skills in following safe work practices and working legally and ethically.

*Please note all Auscare Training Organisation courses are also offered via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
** This course will be delivered and assessed via classroom delivery,work based training and online assessment.
