Course Description
HLT33115 Cert III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in nursing work in acute care) is designed to provide learners with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide assistance to health professionals for the care of clients in acute healthcare settings. This course includes theoretical and practical training that equips learners with factual, technical, and procedural knowledge.
Entry Requirements
Students must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Completion of year 10 or more
- A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI). We recommend that you create your USI before you book your course.
Additionally, you need to attend and achieve a satisfactory result on the language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) test. The LLN test will be conducted either face to face in a hard copy or via eLearning: Moodle. The LLN test will determine whether the student needs additional support to achieve the following ACSF Levels-
Learning – Level 3,
Reading – Level 3,
Writing – Level 3,
Oral Communication – Level 3
Numeracy – Level 3

Course Overview:
The Certificate III in Health Services Assistance training will equip you with the skills to assist in the delivery of nursing care to clients in an acute setting. The course combines theoretical and practical hands-on training with current industry equipment and documentation to ensure learners gain a comprehensive understanding of their role. Highly experienced trainers/assessors (RN) will support and mentor learners throughout the course. Upon completing this course and obtaining the qualification, learners will be ready to confidently begin their career as an Assistant in Nursing.
This course provides an excellent foundation for those seeking to work in support roles in the health industry. The course equips learners with the skills necessary to work with patients under the supervision of professional health staff.
You’ll learn to perform a range of tasks and duties and gain knowledge of:
- Transporting patients
- Preparing and maintaining beds
- Following basic food safety practice
- Infection control and prevention
- Recognising healthy body systems
- Basic medical terminology
- Workplace health and safety.
